STANDING WITH THE KAREN COMMUNITY

Vajiralongkorn Dam Reservoir, Kanchanaburi, Thailand
upcoming in 2026

Field-0 is working with the Karen indigenous community in Vajiralongkorn Dam Reservoir, whose ancestral forest lands were flooded following the construction of the dam in the 1980s. Today, many of the displaced villagers live on floating rafts above their submerged homes. Though surrounded by water in the dam reservoir, they remain without access to the electric grid or safe, filtered drinking water.

We will collaboratively explore small but important improvements to everyday infrastructure within the reservoir—acts of care and resilience in the face of displacement. This process is mediated by the Forest Tradition temple, a well-respected local guardian.

You can stand in solidarity with the Karen community. Support toward self-determined infrastructural improvement work by donating via the QR codes below (PayNow / PayPal / WeChat).
